We love construction. We love accounting. We make people's lives easier by customizing their accounting software as well as providing accounting services so that they focus on running their construction companies better.
This is a full-time position, based out of our Lake Norden, SD office. This is an in-office position.

Here is what you get:
$18 per hour DOE
2 weeks paid time off per year. You can't just work all the time.
The work is fun, fresh and dynamic.
We aren't big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around.
After 90 days you can open a retirement account and we'll match your contribution up to 3%.
After 90 days you will also be eligible for health insurance (generous premium coverage).
After a year here, you get a share of the profits. That means the hard work you put into making the company succeed gets rewarded with cold hard cash.
After 2 years of loyal service, you get an additional 2 weeks of paid vacation per year, but it comes with a catch! It's not optional and you must take it consecutively without access to email (seriously!). We call this the Intermission, and it helps us strengthen our internal processes just as much as it helps you relax and unwind.

Here is what we expect from you:
You will be involved in payroll processing, communication with coworkers and customers alike, troubleshooting situations and proposing solutions, recording accounts payable (think: payroll taxes) and just altogether helping your primary team in the day-to-day work. Payroll processing consists of running payrolls in accounting software for a group of clients who will be in numerous states. This is accomplished by using our internal documentation and established processes. You will be called upon to assist with providing information during monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax reconciliation done by Silvertrek Keepers (think: payroll accountants). Oh, and bring your GAAP accounting skills as well, you will find a place for them here!

You will also be responsible for payroll quality control. This includes analyzing root cause issues of payroll events (something that happened untoward that wasn’t planned). You need to be good at finding the problem and proposing the solutions to said problem in a clear, complete manner. This does come from experience, our own training, and your past experiences with this kind of work.

You need to nail down the details. You are the kind of person who is organized and likes having all the labels in the pantry facing forward. You prioritize getting the work done right over simply getting the work done. You aren’t afraid of critical thinking when faced with an issue.

You need to be the type of person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day there is a lot to do. You are motivated to be a part of the big picture by trying your best, even when things get tough.
Your work environment will vary little – you will be in our office or conducting online meetings (mostly internal). You will be expected to communicate with our clients as needed for your payrolls or other payrolls you may be covering. So, you need to enjoying talking with people and giving/getting direction each and every day.
You need to be okay with ambiguity, feel comfortable asking questions and be ready to guide yourself using self-direction.

Our office is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality.

You must have a minimum of a high school diploma, and a 4 year degree is preferred. We prefer (but do not require) you to have at least 2 years of payroll experience. Also, other accounting experience will be a plus. You must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and working with computers in general. We do not expect you to know our specific software, as we can and will teach you that. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get-it-done attitude. When you have questions, you will find the answers by harnessing the vast collective intelligence of our team.
